Beaded jewellery has fascinated women and men for thousands of years. According to National Geographic, the oldest known beads are 75,000 years old. Anthropologists and archaeologists agree that the emergence of beaded jewellery is an indicator of symbolic thinking and passion for beauty.

With a limited ability to carry things, we chose to carry, and wear precious stones. With no pockets, we had to tie them to strips of leather or other strings for all to marvel. The art of handcrafted beaded jewellery was born. Over time, beaded jewellery became a symbol of prestige, influence and prosperity.

At Ethnicity we strive to bring back the real spirit of why we actually wear jewellery. We look to the past for inspiration and let the natural beauty of the stones and handcrafted ceramics dictate the designs we construct.
